Remote Access

What is Remote Access?
Having Remote Access to your office network enables access to files, applications and e-mail whilst travelling, working at home or from another office.  Remote access was traditionally achieved using either ISDN or analogue telephone lines, which provided low speed connections with high operating costs.  With the advent of inexpensive, high speed Broadband internet connections, this enables small businesses to effectively use Remote Access at a very low cost.

What is a VPN?
Remote Access is achieved using a VPN, or Virtual Private Network, which provides a secure tunnel over the Internet between a remote user, using a laptop or home pc for example, and the office network.  VPN technologies use data encryption to ensure all communication over the VPN is secure and private.

Using a VPN
Using a VPN is as simple as dialling the Internet, and once connected, you can use your pc as though you were physically situated in the office.
